November 19, 2019

6 students used newly donated rakes (from Resilient.SEA Stuff Swap) to gather some leaves and they also cleaned out and organized the greenhouse.

November 26, 2019

10 students soaked seeds for making sprouts, started some microgreens, learned about cycles of plant growth and parts of plants, saving seeds and plant parts to grow more food.

December 3, 2019

8 students snacked on sprouts started last week, checked on cuttings we planted, grace saved some grape seeds we planted, talked about what plants need to grow/thrive.

Garden club cancelled due to snow.

December 17, 2019

Last garden club of the year. Shared snacks including sprouts and green onions we grew. Students received/label gardening gloves and cleaned one of the grow towers.

2020

January 7, 2019

6 students (one new!) split up to do germination tests for some of the seeds and reassemble the tower garden.

With the tower garden reassembled we filled it with rockwool plugs, some containing sprouted seeds and others with new seeds.

Checked tower garden, realized pump was clogged = water not being pumped all the way to top of tower = tow 3 levels were dry. Replaced pump. Planted out one Hanging Basket planter in greenhouse.

Garden Club cancelled due to illness. Genevieve set up a drip system for hanging basket planter. Effectiveness TBD. On from 1:30-2 pm daily.

5 students thinned seedlings in tower, implemented weekly tower check, learned to use pH/TDS meter, lowered pump flow, checked hanging basket in GH and started some flower bulbs and seeds.
